A sublime chawan (tea bowl) made in the sometsuke porcelain style by Miura Chikusen IV (1911-1976) of the renown family of Kyoto ceramic artists.
The fourth Chikusen was nephew to the third (1900-90) and son to the second (1882-1920). The first Chikusen (1854-1915) started studying with Takahashi Dohachi at the age of 13 and established his kiln in Kyoto in 1883. He was a well rounded artist and his talent as a painter has defined the work of his lineage.
