A superb chawan (tea bowl) made in the oribe style of pottery, by Nishioka Yu (b. 1977).
Nishioka Yu studied with Suzuki Goro from 2011 and in 2014 established his own kiln in the town of Ena, Gifu prefecture.
The shape of the bowl is reminiscent of Hon’ami Koetsu’s chalices, while the emerald glaze mesmerizes and gives it a gem-like aura.
The chawan is in perfect condition. It is signed and comes with a signed wooden box.
