A very elegant tsubo (jar) by one of the most famous Japanese potters, Shimaoka Tatsuzo (1919-2007). It is a beautiful example of the work of that master potter.
Shimaoka Tatuzo, who worked and lived in the town of Mashiko, studied with legendary potter Hamada Shoji (1894-1978) and was recognized as a National Living Treasure in 1996 for his Jomon Zogan technique.

The jar is in very good condition. It bears the mark of the potter and will be shipped in a fitted wooden box (tomobako).
