Who other than Suzuki Goro could have had the genial inspiration and the technical knowledge to create such a titanesque oeuvre? There are actually a few of those he has made over the years but each is a unique projection of the potter’s fertile spirit. The “patches” are made in the different traditional Mino pottery styles; Oribe, Yashichida, Shino, Setoguro... and put together to form this wonderful puzzle spiced up with the wabi-sabi flavor of ancient potteries that have been repaired with gold lacquer. The patches are decorated with Suzuki Goro’s painted leitmotivs, outside as well as inside the tsubo (jar). Here is yet another unmissable monument to the human artistic spirit through one of its most talented and daring creators.
