A Large Buddhist monk’s formal robe (kesa) of high quality, brocade silk in olive freen/maroon, gray, and metallic gold threds decorated with dragons, phoenixes among flowers and cloud patterns. It has been sown in paneled squares according to tradition. On the inside clad with light beige silk with peony flower pattern. All hand-stitched. Late Edo to early Meiji. L 192 cm, W 112 cm ( 74,8 x 44 inches) . Condition: Very good with almost no wear.
