A highly attractive and rare, covered ‘tiger box’ made of multiple plates of iron finely inlaid with silver on a base of hammered metal plate * to produce the shape of a tiger in archaic style (heads in both ends). Among the silver inlaid patterns are good luck symbols like bats and coins and the 8 Buddhist good luck symbols: conch, umbrella, banner, golden fish, Dharma wheel, the knot of eternity, lotus flower and vase of nectar. Korea (Choson), 18th to early 19th cent. H. 22 cm, L. 33 cm W. 19 cm.Condition: Very good. No missing parts or replacements. Some corrosion due to age.
