A three-quarter portrait painted in ink and colours on fine silk depicting a Chinese general, perhaps an eunuch commander dressed in formal armour. Excellent quality and good, vivid colours. Most probably a historical portrait of sorts. China, Qing, late 18th to early 19th cent., most probably Jiaqing period (1795–1820). Picture size: H 33 cm, W 22 cm. ( with passepartout: H 59 cm x W 43 cm). Condition: Generally very good, but a few minor creases and stains.
