Kitamura Seibo (1884–1987), was born in Minamiarima, Nagasaki, Kyushu. He was one of the most renowned Japanese sculptors in the 20th century with numerous important works to his name including the statue in the Nagasaki Peace Park. In the compound of the Shimabara Castle (Kyushu) there is a special Memorial Hall, the Seibo Kinenkan, dedicated to his long life works. Matching, signed and stamped kiri box. Japan, Late Showa.
