Beautiful Buddhist Triptych depicting the Water-Moon Kannon (Chinese: Shuiyue Guanyin). It is a celebrated motif from the Kegon Kyo ( Avatamsaka Sutra ). On the left it is showing a Goddess accompanying a youthful Sudhana approaching the central figure, Kannon Bodhisattva to ask for spiritual advice. On the right side the ascetic Vasu ( disciple of Buddha) bringing offerings. Beautifully painted with the figures in a landscape rendered in gold and colours on silk. The piece is in form of a small folding screen to be placed on an alter for worship. Signed with a seal “EiHou” Late Edo, 19th century. Measurement: L 64 cm x H 24,5 cm. Condition: good for age and use, but there is a small hole on the upper-right side of Vasu.
