A high bottle shape vase of irregular, cut shape with a long and thin neck of perfectly pure and smooth white porcelain coated in a wonderful bluish celadon glaze. Inscribed and signed Tomobako, storage box. Sizes: H. 42 x Ø 10 cm Excellent condition! ****** Kato Tsubusa, born in 1962, a well-established ceramic artist from Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. After graduation in 1979 he experimented with pottery for a few years but he soon became interested in working with perfectly smooth, white porcelain from New Zeeland and he is now only working with that material. He started exhibiting his works in 1984 and has participated in many competitions and exhibitions in Japan and abroad. Known for his combination of delicate, almost ethereal, pale, bluish celadon glaze (Seihakuji) on porcelain, his pieces have a singular, dynamic character and highly aesthetic quality to them.
