Modern, large roundish bamboo flower basket Hanakago Material: Madake bamboo, rattan, lacquer. It comes with the original lacquered bamboo water receptacle Otoshi. Artist’s inscription to bottom: CHIKUHOUSAI. H 27 x D 29 cm. Perfect condition. **** Okasaki Chikuhousai was born in Beppu in 1933; Kyushu. Studied under his father Chikuhosai I. In 1953, he was selected for the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition. Since 1975, he has exhibited at the Seibu Kogei Exhibition, winning awards. His works are in the collection of Oita Prefectural Museum of Art (OPAM) This basket can be dated from the very late Showa period.
