An interesting pair of boat shaped dishes, funagata o-zara, decorated in a limited palette of iron red, green enamel and gilding with a central motif of Karashishi on waves framed by a band of shippo, cash. The dishes date to the early nineteenth century and the late Edo period, circa 1800-1830. The dishes measure 18cm in length and 11cm in diameter. The dishes are in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration, however both have some light production fritting to the glaze principally to the stern of the boats, one has some fritting to the prow as well.
