A large dish with upturned rim of shakuzara size (10 sun or 30cm in diameter) decorated with an unusually geometric pattern based upon an eight pointed star, hachibosei, with a central roundel reserve containing a Peony painted in a gilt outlined technique typical of the late mid Edo period. Framed by eight further triangular brocade blocks, four with a y diaper iron red ground with chrysanthemum mon, and four with a diaper ground with purple and green enamels. Dating circa 1780-1800.
