A large Export Imari Bowl decorated with a Chrysanthemum arabesque, kiku karakusa, ground in underglaze blue with reserves in the form of overlapping fan shaped and peach form poem cards respectively painted with a Stylised Chrysanthemum in gilt against an iron red ground and an auspicious leaping Shishi with Rock Peonies, Iwa Botan. The bowl dates to the second quarter of the 18th century. The interior and base are undecorated and the rim is unglazed indicating that the bowl originally had a cover. The bowl is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. It measures approximately 15cm, 10 inches in diameter, and stands 11.7cm high, 4.6 inches. The foot-rim measures 15,7cm, 6.2 inches, in diameter and weighs 1.6kg. Additional images are available on request.
