A porcelain dish from the Nagasaki area, so not strictly “Ko Imari”, meticulously painted with an elaborate Leiwen border and a stylised Chinese style landscape in a light blue gosu. The reverse painted with three Lotus flowers with trailing Acanthus type scrolls in a contrasting dark blue gosu with a seal for the Kameyama kiln. The scroll motif to the reverse indicates a relatively early date of production and later examples do not exhibit the same degree of care or workmanship as the pattern becomes standardised and simplified. The Kameyama kiln enjoyed a considerable reputation based on the quality of its output during the period 1820-40 and its style was much copied at Arita and at other kilns, thereafter the quality of its output declined till it eventually ceased production in the Bakumatsu era. It used expensive imported gosu, cobalt paint, from China and porcelain stone from Amakusa. The dish measures 15.5cms in diameter (5 suns) and stands 3.5cm high and has a footring of 9.8cm in diameter. It is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. Worldwide shipping is included in the $ price and UK shipping in the Sterling price. £65 - $95
