Yabu Meizan (1852 - 1934)

Yabu Meizan was born in Osaka, Japan in 1852. He learned to paint Satsuma in 1880 and opened a factory the same year. In the years that followed, he won many awards and held many positions of importance in his field. However, after World War I (1914), demand for Satsuma declined, causing Meizan to concentrate on the domestic market prior to his death in 1934.
