Seifu Yohei I (1803 - 1861) (Scroll down for more information.)
According to Captain Frank Brinkley's book, Japan: It's History Arts and Literature (Vol. 8, pg. 226), Seifu Yohei I was born in Gojozaka, the son of a bookseller. He moved to Kyoto where he studied under Dohachi II and opened his own factory in 1844. Brinkley states that Seifu I manufactured both pottery and porcelain.
