18th C. Well hollowed, Rare Natural Cherry Amber (a form of Jet) Snuff Bottle This is a very fine, flattened, rounded rectangular form Snuff Bottle with a round, elongated neck, rounded sloping shoulders, and raised recessed elongated oval footing. Made of a rare red or natural Cherry Amber, which is thought to be another form of Jet. The bottle is well-hollowed, with very thin walls, thus, very light in weight. It is transparent, with a cherry red color. It has a very smooth and lustrous surface. It comes with an Aventurine crystal stopper, with spoon. This bottle exhibits similar characteristics (size, form, weight, temperature) as a Black Jet Snuff Bottle that we are also listing on this store. The bottle is in excellent preserved condition. Bottle Measurements Height: 2.33 inches (5.9cm), not including the stopper Width: 1.21 inches (3.1cm) Thickness: 0.57 inches (1.5cm) Weight: 0.8 ounce A very similar Snuff Bottle was sold recently at auction on Ebay for $3,750.00. See photo #6.
