A beautiful Japanese, Satsuma stoneware, Tokkuri; sake flask. It is a rare example of Satsuma decorated in this Kutani style; possibly by Hosai. Tentatively dated as late Meiji. Their are, illegibly, written and impressed marks to the base. Condition is perfect. approximately 20cm tall.

A large and finely sculptured, Japanese, figure of Buddha, shown seated on a high lotus base. Polychrome in the Kutani style. The raised hand in the vitarka mudra, meaning the gesture of argumentation (thumb and index forming the wheel of teachings). The left in the karana mudra, meaning the gesture of demon-defence. The flat base is textured. There is an opening, perhaps as a reliquary. It also offers the opportunity to see the hand moulded nature of this figure...

A finely cast, Japanese, bronze lidded vessel in the form of a sphere perched upon swirling waves and itself surmounted by a knop of a bird on a leafy branch, the bowl decorated in relief with carp in a stream. A Japanese Imari covered vase, circa 1700. Late C16th to early C17th. Decorated in a continuous water garden landscape of ducks amidst blossoming flowers. The pure quality of the cobalt blue is particularly attractive, and used lavishly. A Japanese Imari vase of exceptional quality, circa 1700. Finely decorated with a continuous garden landscape between panel borders. Height 31.5 cm. It exhibits one small firing flaw, as is often found in Japanese Imari porcelain of this early period. However, the decorative condition is simply outstanding with no, or little, wear.
