A Japanese Imari covered vase, circa 1700. Late C16th to early C17th. Decorated in a continuous water garden landscape of ducks amidst blossoming flowers. The pure quality of the cobalt blue is particularly attractive, and used lavishly. It is relatively rare to find an early Imari vase of an hexagonal shape, even more so, complete with it's original cover. The vase is 23.5 cm tall, 33 cm tall with cover. The condition is good. There is wear to some of the decoration and to the gilding. The finial, though original, has been reattached at some point in time. Additional images are available upon request.
