A bronze, female, deity from the Khmer Empire, C12-13th. The facial features are strongly defined and typical of the period. The upper body is bare, apart from a necklace and armlets. She is wearing a Dhoti which is folded to the front in a fishtail pleat. This crowned deity has particularly fine detailing, a pleasant aged patina, and is mounted on a cubic metal base. Without the base, it is 14.3 cm tall. Originally from a private German collection. Condition: consistent with age, the lower right arm is missing. The lower left arm was detached, and has been recently professionally reattached by Plowden Smith Ltd, London. Additional images are available upon request.
