This caught my eye as soon as I saw it ... a fine reticulated Nanking fruit basket with a matching liner. So rare to see them together and matched so well. The basket fits exactly into the well of the liner, the rim borders. The crosses in the border extends to the reticulated parts. And note the foot band pattern of the bowl matches the inner rim band of the liner where the 2 vessels meet! The porcelain is fine with clean shining glaze that has nice orange peel effect. Clear deep blue. A couple of burnt orange spots. No marks whatsoever. About 150 years. Fruit baskets are shown in Schiffer pages 132-135.
Basket 9.3/4 x 8.3/4 x 3.1/3 inches; liner 10 x 9 x 11/4. A short 1. 1/2 inch hairline along the basket rim. Several 2-4 mm tiny rough spots along basket's bottom rim, none distracting. Similar along liner rim. (White spots in pics are reflections, not chips.) Very good condition overall for this old timer. This is a jewel of an old Nanking in a rare matching set, and beautifully done. Won't find another for a long long time.
I bought 2 sets along with some other fine Nankings from an estate a while ago, sold one and this one and the other Nanking blue white gravy are the last of the group. (Item #Nank004)
