This is one of those fantastic forms we all love in antique Chinese export ware... a Nanking gravy boat with looped handles and wavy rim plus a conforming liner. The handles and the rim give the appearance of flying. This early 18th century export blue and white is made of fine clay and has that prized saphire blue. The painting details are very fine. No marks anywhere.
Boat 3 1/3 x 8 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches handle to handle; liner 9 1/2 wide x 6 1/2 deep. 2 tiny glaze flakes (about 1/4 inch) along one spout and a slight rough spot; one handle has some glaze flakes; no other chips hairlines cracks or repairs. Very good condition considering age.
This is one of the most desirable forms in antique Chinese export porcelain in remarkable condition, and in a matching liner. It is just about the last of the group I got from a local estate. Please see my other listings including a Nanking basket with liner.
