This nicely painted Arita bowl measures 5 ¾” diameter and is 1 ¾” deep at the rim. The rim has the classic brown overglaze band of color and the rim is scalloped for a soft effect. The landscape design is executed in underglaze blue and white and features a nearby hill with what appears to be a curved bridge and is next to a body of water. In the distance one can see a much taller hill or mountain and, on the water, a boat. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. We date it to the mid Meiji period, circa 1885-1900.
