A fan shaped Japanese waterdropper for the scholars desk. Used to moisten the solid ink used in calligraphy and scroll painting. This nice little waterdropper is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a flower on the top and a rim in the same cobalt blue encircles the pouring spout. The piece measures 3 1/4" long and is 2 1/2" wide at its widest and stands 1 1/4" high. Dates from the late Meiji to Taisho period, circa 1900-1925. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
