This is a sweet small porcelain pot on tripod legs that could have been used either as a brush pot or a small jardinière. The rim of the pot is a soft underglaze blue. On the sides are slightly raised designs of blue flowers with branches and leaves – accented with a touch of light red in the center of the flowers. On the other side we find butterflies flitting about – also in blue relief.

The three legs are in the shape of leaves – the base is unglazed. There is an impressed mark on the base – unfortunately it is too blurred from the firing to be able to translate. The piece measures 4 ½” diameter at the top by 3 ¼” high and the main body is 4 ¾” diameter at its widest. We date it to the late Meiji to early Showa period, circa 1910 – 1940. It is in excellent condition.
