This is a very interesting egyptianizing faience amulet of a recumbent lion.
These kind of amulets were the product of some Greek colonies settled on the
Northern coast of the Black Sea, at Panticapeum and Bakhchisarai, in Crimea,
starting from the VI century B.C.

Date: ca. 1st century B.C. - 2nd century A.D.
Material: Faience
Size: length: ca. 2,3 cm; c. 0.91 inches
Condition: intact, a little bit worn
Provenance: old french collection, before 1980
