Twelve pairs of Japanese-made roller caps for Japanese Hanging scrolls, 8.5 Bu (8.5 分about 2.61 mm) in diameter. Japanese scroll roller ends follow the old measuring system- shakkanhō (尺貫法). These fit 8.5 Bu size- please measure diameter of the roller bar with calipers. This size was very popular during late Taishō and early Shōwa Periods.
Material: white sandalwood, Santalum album (Byakudan 白檀)
Size: 8.5 Bu (8.5 分 about 2.61 mm)
Date of manufacture: most likely Shōwa Period, 1980s. Wood is still emitting pleasant aroma.
New, never used. Minor scratches and imperfections from manufacturing process.
These are hand made, not machine made, and there is a discrepancy in width of up to about 1 mm between some of them and colors range from light to dark, needles to say each has distinct wood grain, but they can be easily paired.
