A very fine and extremely rare pair of 18th century Qianlong period Chinese flambé-glazed porcelain "meiping" vases, the superbly potted vessels of classic elegant form, the elongated body tapered gently towards the base with short neck and small opening, covered allover in a most attractive finely-crackled flambé glaze of purplish-blue hue with faint reddish undertone, the base and the neatly trimmed foot rims unglazed and exposed to a fine and smooth white paste characteristic of the 18th century. (Wooden stands not included)
NOTE : It is very rare to find a matching pair of Chinese 18th century flambé-glazed porcelain meiping vases in such immaculate condition.
DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 18th Century, Qianlong period (1736 – 1795).
MARK : no mark or signature but each has an old paper label written "BLUE-PURPLE CHENG-LUNG 1736-95" on base.
SIZE : approximately 8 1/4" (21 cm) high.
CONDITION : both vases in perfect condition, just a few tiny production glaze nibs around foot rims noted for accuracy only. No chips, no cracks, and no repairs.
