Timoto-Cuica polychrome female rattle figure. Trujillo State, in the Andean region of Western Venezuela. 1000-1500 AD. 8" x 5" across elbows x 3 1/2" 1 lb. 3 oz. Closely related to the Muisca Culture of Columbia; both cultures showing influences of the the earlier Machalila culture of Ecuador. Hollow-bodied rattle, with vent holes at nostrils, breasts and navel. A little abraded at one eye; otherwise intact.
