Chancay brown on white double-chambered whistle bottle, with a perched parrot. Central coast of Peru. Late Intermediate Period 1000-1400 AD. Whistle works loud and clear. Overall solid, with the tip of the spout broken and glued- all there but one small chip. On the front the paint is good, with some wear; the back is more faded. The more heavily applied brown slip, on the sides of the chambers, has flaked in spots. There are reddish surface deposits in a couple of spots. 11" x 7 1/4" x 3 3/4". 1 lb. 1 oz.
