A Japanese boxwood netsuke of a giant coiled snake around a young woman. In the Japanese folk tales, the giant snake is called uwaba-mi or yamakachi. These snakes were rarely seen, but much feared by the locals. Meiji period second half 19th century Sizes: 3,5 x 4,0 x 4,0 cm. Condition report: Good condition
