A fine example of a so called "sikin panyang" or "long sikin". Laminated steel with a horn grip. It belonged to the people of Aceh, an area in the North-West of Sumatra island (Indonesia). It is probably a spoil of war, brought home by a Dutch soldier from the KNIL army around 1900. One reason to think so is that it- like many of it's peers- doesn't have a scabbard. The weapons were picked up from the battlefield- the scabbards on the bodies left behind. Length 76cm. Beautiful drawing to the steel. One short and one longer crack running up the grip. In general very good condition. Reduced in price from 395 euro to 325 euro.
