Old Indian ‘Deep Lakshmi’ solid cast bronze oil lamp. The goddess stands holding the lamp bowl wearing an elaborate necklace, snake armlets and bracelets. This lamp measuring 8 inches in height has seen a great deal of use, the surface is worn and pitted in places with some Verdigris around the neck as seen in the pictures. There are some areas of inlaid copper such as the ‘dots’ around the rim of the lamp, one in the middle of the necklace and one on the forehead.
The original stand is lost and she will require a new base, there is a metal prong protruding at the bottom to facilitate attachment. 19th century or earlier.
