Extremely rare tea bowl rests on a sturdy three part kodai by the highly sought Udagawa Hosei (1946-1993) enclosed in the original wooden box titled simply Hagi Chawan.The lack of pretense in the title does not match the superlative nature of the bowl.All to the senses, the texture is a pleasure against the thick white over bottomless black and shjades of lavender dust.It is all we could hope for in a Chawan by this important artist that his works rarely comes to market.
