Takuro makes the most characteristic pottery I have ever seen here in Japan , and when you look on this particular piece it’s easy to understand why. Here is a superb example of his Kairagi large Tea Bowl. It has Tomo everything, Artists history, wrapping cloth, a silk pouch, with his fingerprint all over the signed box.

Takuro was born in 1981 in Hiroshima. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, at Kyoto Saga University in 2001, and started studying under Susumu Zaima in 2002. Currently working in a studio in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture. He has had exhibitions in New York, Brussels, and London among others. Major group exhibitions include “Bubble Wrap” (Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto, 2018), “Murakami Takashi’s Superflat Consideration on Contemporary Ceramics” (Towada Art Center, Aomori, 2017), “Japanese Kogei | Future Forward” (Museum of Arts and Design, New York, 2015), and “Art Crafting Towards The Future” (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, 2012). His work is collected by Boca Raton Museum of Art, Florida; The Palm Springs Art Museum, Palm Springs; Rubell Family Collection, Miami; 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa; University of Michigan Museum of Art, Ann Arbor; Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art, Kanazawa; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and Rakusuitei Museum of Art, Toyama.
