Another excellent example of one of my favorite artists Izumita Yukiya, comes enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Futamono Juji Henko (Cross-shaped lidded jar).
The shape has a charm reminiscent of Hans Coper and ancient vessels. It will looks beautiful with a few flowers, and of course even as an object.
Size, D 23.2 cm H 22.4 cm
Condition, Excellent
Yukiya was born in 1966 in Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture . In 1995 opened is own workshop. His list of exhibitions and awards is too long to print, but include the grand prize at the Asahi Ceramic Exhibition in 2000 and 2002, the Excellence Award at the 20th Biennial Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition in 2009. He has displayed in both Europe and America and is held in the permanent collection of the Yale University Art Gallery, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art among others.
