Inro – Lovely model opening with 4 compartments and a lid, in urushi lacquer, decorated in gold and silver maki-e on a black background. From the front, it represents a richly harnessed horse with a ceremonial saddle, prancing. On the other side, it is the entrance to a pavilion or a temple under pine trees. Lovely details. Height: 6 cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.

Rare and pretty Inro opening with four compartments and a lid in urushi lacquer with a black background decorated in hiramaki-e with gold lacquer, mitsuda, kirigane and mother-of-pearl inlays, of a traditional cottage above which a bird flies; on the other side, a set of objects including a large basket, branches and a cup. Suzuribako - Important model of urushi lacquer writing case from Japan, offering a rich decoration of a Kabuto and a sand on the top of the lid, on a hirameji lacquer background. Gold and silver lacquer with rare finesse of decoration. The interior offers a particularly remarkable scene, of two deer in autumn foliage. Takamaki-e and hiramaki-e. Netsuke – Lovely wooden model carved by Sukeyuki representing a Shishimaï dancer. Dancer depicted seated with only legs visible beneath his wide cloak and lion mask. Signed under the base. Height 4 cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 19th Century

NETSUKE – Old man and his dog. Good and rare model of an old man, figure of chinese sage, standing and leaning to the right,, his hand on his beard and smiling wearing a beautiful large patterned robe. A dog is sitting at his feet. In the Behrens catalogue by Henri Joly, a similar exemple is represented as Wei Peh-Yang, from the Han dynasty. Ohara Koson (1877-1945) Snow on Willow Bridge. A woodblock print, with gofun for the snow. With gofun paste for the flying snow and extensive embossing as snow banks, two women with umbrellas cross a bridge over the river Sumidagawa in a heavy snowfall. This print illustrates the famous Yanagibashi – Willow bridge. Signed and sealed Shoson, published by Watanabe Shozaburo, circa 1940 Vertical oban: 38.6 x 26.1 cm. Showa period, 20th century. Netsuke - Nice model of the Shichifukujin Takarabune (The famous boat loaded with treasures of the 7 gods of happiness) in carved boxwood. Nice carving details of the whole composition. The 7 deities are all identifiable, the boat itself is ornate, the waves and a small Minogame turtle sculpted on the base. The cartridge signature has disappeared over time. Very nice natural patina. Height: 3.5cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 19th century.

Netsuke – A lovely model of boxwood group of chestnuts, one of which reveals the passage of a small worm, in carved bone. The natural chestnut color and wear to the wood provides a very naturalistic depiction. Wide himotoshi at the back. Beautiful natural patina. Nice finesse of sculpture. Probably former Carlo Monzino collection, n°191 sold at Sothebys London in 1995. Dimensions: 5 cm Edo period late 18th century

Netsuke - A mask carver, by Masayuki. The carver is holding his lasted creation, a chisel resting in his other hand. Evidently satisfied with his work, the carver twists his face into the same expression of that of this subject- a kyogen mask of the "liar" (usofuki) type, one eye closed and the lips pursed into a sideways whistle. Japan, Asakusa, Edo (1603-1868) 19th century.

Netsuke – Nice model representing a fox, in Japanese Kitsune, in carved wood, represented seated, wearing a long coat, disguised as a priest, leaning on a base on which rests an open book. Nice model with a beautiful natural patina. Himotoshi in the back. Dimensions: 4 x 3.7 cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) late 18th century.

Netsuke – Good size model of a toad with a rather strong expression, crouched down, about to jump, its legs folded under its belly. His eyes are encrusted with brown horn. Nice natural patina of the wood. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.

Inro – A amusing and beautiful model of a black japanese urushi lacquer Inro, open by 4 cases and a lid, showing mice and a rat playing together on shells.  Brown, black, gold and silver lacquers of maki-e. H : 5,7 cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.

Sculpture - Inari. Symbolized by a pair of Japanese fox - Shinto kami. The foxes are represented seated on pedestals and take their place in a sort of painted wooden temple entrance door. Kobako – Lovely and interesting little model of rectangular urushi gold lacquer box, opening with a lid. It offers a delightful decoration in gold in mak-ie on a black background, of two pretty rabbits in a landscape of foliage. Interior and underside in nashiji lacquer. The inside of the lid is decorated with butterflies. Beautiful border in gyobu lacquer (gold flakes). Sides in fundame lacquer. Length: 8.1cm x Width: 7.4cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.

Large and wide tray, in Japanese lacquer, black, gold and silver according to the techniques of hiramaki-e and takamaki-e.
