Bronze signal cannon cast with nail, Spanish colonial, 16th.-17th. century.

Short flat-bottomed bronze cannons like this one were apparently in widespread use throughout the colonies but particularly in Peru, where they were fired either to send up signals or to test powder.

With touch-hole near bottom, fluted body.

Size: 6,9 cm. tall and 5,5 cm. thick, with a borehole of ca. 2,8 cm.

Weight: ca. 630 grams, so quite solid construction!

Finely carved and glazed floral and carved garlanded decoration in Cobalt and with a fine early pewter lid with thumbrest. A real gem and incredible that it has survived the ages in this pristine condition.

A highly important and rare German stoneware pouring jug, Westerwald, ca. 1670.

A very interesting and rare type that we've never seen before from Westerwald(!), with the intact and original elaborate pewter mount.
