A larger thickbutted Danish Neolithic axe dating c. 3000-2500 BC.

The axe is finely polished on the broad sides leaving the small sides unpolished. Beautiful smooth and glossy grey silex. Well executed.

The thickbutted axes began to replace the thin butted types in the last part of the 4th mill. and became the dominant during the third millenium BC.

This specimen is a 'Lindoe'-type - a later development of the thickbutted type.
