The axe of the thunbutted type with domed broadsides and polished on all sides, except for the rear end. Re-knapped and polished in a later period, near Daggertime.

A superb and very nicely executed thickbutted Danish Neolithic axe dating c. 3000-2500 BC.

The axe is unpolished with a beautyful amber patina. Collection tag '4' written on one side - also finding place 'Grunderup Klint.'

The thickbutted axes began to replace the the thinbutted types in the last part of the 4th mill. and became the dominant type during the first millenium BC. This specimen is a 'Lindoe'-type - a later development of the thickbutted type.
