Rare Egyptian Stone carving of a Fish, likely Pre-Dynastic, late 4th. millenium BC.

The medium is a sort of limestone, cream colour. The carving is likely of a Tilapia fish - the bulging upturned mouth, the operculum, the long dorsal fin, and the peculia fins. Made with drilled holes for mounting it in the mouth of the fish.

A massive and heavy oil lamp with a very large nozzle, giving room for a sizeable wick. Originally the lamp had rings in the center that made it possible to attach it to a chain or mount it on a wall. So probably a lamp for outdoor use or in a large hall. The type is rare today because many items for everyday use were melted and recycled as other items...
