An interesting scaraboid with the upperside not carved as a beetle, but with general shape of a Scarab Beetle. Finely incised Hieroglyphs.

An unusually large and well-preserved Egyptian wooden 'mummy' mask, Late Period, c. 664 – 332 BC, or facial portion from a sarcophagus lid, depicting a male wearing a headdress with a winged Scarab. The piece is from Luxor and purchased on the site in the 1960s. A spectacular piece that we initially sought was made of faiance, but it's very heavy and the terric Sun ray pattern on the back is surely carved, not mould cast.
