An unusually large and well-preserved Egyptian wooden 'mummy' mask, Late Period, c. 664 – 332 BC, or facial portion from a sarcophagus lid, depicting a male wearing a headdress with a winged Scarab. An impressive massive figure measuring 41,5 cm. in height. Skillfully carved. Once carved, the figure was covered in a thin layer of gesso and painted in red, black, cream, and white hues. This example still retains carved and painted facial details and a classic cap-styled coiffure.

He would have been an attendant in the afterlive, a boatman perhaps, or doing field work etc...
