A rare and interesting Cylinder seal in black stone, likely Serpentinite, Neo-Babylonian, ca. 800-600 BC

the seal carved with the image of the Great king standing with a Scimitar or Sicle sword in his right hand in front of a high doomed Alter.

This depiction is rather common on stamp seals but scarce and attractive on a cylinder! In this period stamp seals were mainly used, while Cylinders were being fased out.

The motif of the Duck an Anatolian version of the Sumerian weights of the 3rd. millenium BC. The carving of the Duck typical for the very elaborate seals of Anatolia, starting in the 2nd. mill. BC.
