A wonderful ancient glass pitcher, Syro-Palestine, late roman type of 3rd.-4th. century AD.

The vessel stands tall and massive with a wide lip and broad handle finely moulded from the shoulder to the lip.

The vessel in green glass now covered with a rainbow coloured irridescence and deposits.

he is depicted as a nude youth, with animal at his right feet and leaning on something, perhaps a club, hence the Herculian attribution. Peculiar crown or headdress. Nice facial details and details of his muscular legs and torso. A few losses and choice green-brown patina.
