Superb large North African Red-Ware Oil Lamp, Late Roman-Byzantine ca. 5th Century AD.

An oil lamp depicting an Early Christian cross, which was popular from ca. 320 AD and a couple of 100 years. Floral and Geomethric symbols around the discus, knob handle and two filling holes.

Choice condition. Completely intact and free from repairs. Some fine patination even wear.

Late Roman/Early Byzantine, ca. 5th.-6th century AD.

A mold-made oil lamp of the late Roman style with a simple quadratic design in its discus and a laurel design around that. It has a sunken discus, one pour hole in the center of the central design, an unpierced lug handle, and a wide channel running down the nozzle.

Very attractive lamp!
