Interesting bronze figure from an old Danish Collection, possible depicting a deity or an attendant, China or South East Asia, 17th.-18th. century.

A puzzling piece, looks Buddhist and perhaps Taoist we're not certain. He wears a peculiar headdress and a necklace with large claw-shaped hangers. It came with a group of old Indian bronzes, but does not look Indian to us.

The lavishly gilt figure is standing in a relaxed pose on a gilt double lotus Throne on a high decorated podium, holding a gold purse. At his feet is two gilt rats. A terrific backplate for the Throne is decorated with zoomorphic figures. Beautiful serene expression with down-cast eyes.
