A fine barrel-shaped Neo-Assyrian pink stone cylinder seal, early or intermediate piece, ca. 1000-800 BC.

The seal is not drilled and was evidently mounted with metal mounts. The stone is high quality with a fine colour and carving style nice for the period. It's engraved with a seated archer, shooting arrows at a winged human headed lion (Perhaps the protector god, Lamassu?), crescent and star above.

The seal carved in a wonderful now patinated Agate/carnelian with a transperant rose-blood red colour. Carved with the stylized image of the hero Gilgamesh (?).
