A very rare and highly interesting bronze vessel, likely for holy water, dated 1706 on the foot.

It's engraved with the maker Christofel Papen (The family Papen is a well-known German artist family working especially with the art in Churches), the name Hinrich Riger and 'ANNO 1706'.

Iron handle and bell metal - very heavy! Fine decorations which looks like a flock of birds on the sides.

Size: 21 cm. high without the handle, ca. 15 cm. wide (max). Very heavy!

Provenance: Ex. Egeskov Antique and formerly in a large old Danish castle Estate.
